The May Meeting Was A Success!

I am trying to help my busy husband out & look what happens. Sorry folks. I am not computer savvy!!!!! But hey, at least it's a start. When Andy & Debby have a chance to work on the website, they can fix the photos & add names & web address below every one's pictures. Now I am going to see if I can add some pics from our wonderful time together during our last meeting. Have a great summer & I look forward to hearing all about it in August. -Charity

I Can't Wait Until Saturday!!!

I know this isn't big information, but Debby did say to post when we had something. So here goes.... The Morris family is bringing all the paper products for our gathering. (No, that wasn't the important info. Just hold on.) I went shopping and found the cutest patriotic plates. So if we didn't have a theme this month before, we do now. It is RED, WHITE, and American BLUE. Yes, I know it's nothing life shaking, but hey it's something. (Can you tell I'm a stay at home mom? - at least part time) I also found the cutest little sets for the kids. So don't worry they are taken care of too.
And in case anyone needs to know menu items I am planning on making symphony brownies. I had to find something I could make on Friday because Debby is gracing us with her presence before the meeting to update our homestudy. (Yes, that is in the form of a prayer request. My house is in shambles right now. ugh)

I just wanted to bring you all up to speed on how many folks we are expecting at our May 3rd support group meeting. As of today, I have confirmation from eight families for a total of 15 adults and 18 kids. That's a nice crowd! It appears that everyone is planning on staying for the pot luck, so we can look forward to lots of food, fun and fellowship. I hope you will start posting on our blog as you have information to share. We are open to exchange of ideas and experiences as we travel this adoption journey together.

Thank you, Andy, for creating this new blog for our Jackson area support group. I am looking forward to seeing all of you at Fellowship Bible Church on May 3rd at 4:00 p.m. Remember, we are going to have pot luck at 5:30 so bring a dish if you can stay. So far, I have a couple of desserts promised, as well as chicken nuggets from Chick Fil A. I think there are also a couple of covered dishes of undetermined content. I will probably bring potato salad, as I won't have time to cook. (Don't worry, it will be in an ice chest, so no health hazard will be involved.)

Housekeeping chores for the May 3rd meeting:

• We need to come up with a firm name for our new group. Andy has designated us as "Jackson Area Adoption Group," and you may decide to stay with that. If you vote to change it, I'm sure Andy can effect that change on our blog.
• We need to decide on a set amount for each family to contribute to the childcare fund. I currently have $40 left over from the first meeting. (You guys were really generous!) We will use that to pay the caregivers on May 3rd. If we have more children than last time, we will pass the hat again to make up the difference. (I'll try to remember to bring a hat this time.)

Our topic of discussion for May 3rd is Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), aka Sensory Integration Dysfunction. I will have a short PowerPoint presentation and handouts. If any of you have specific questions, concerns or input, please feel free to contribute. I am not an expert on this topic by any means, but hope to shed some light and share some resources.
